# Plans and limits

> What each plan includes, pay-as-you-go rates, what happens when an allowance runs out, and which limits apply to every organisation.

Prices are in rand per month. Sendbaze is not yet VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged and the listed price is what you pay. Allowances reset on your billing day; `GET /v1/usage` shows the current period, what is used and what is left.

| Plan | Price | Emails / month | SMS / month (SA numbers) | Email overage | SMS overage |
| - | - | - | - | - | - |
| Free | R0 | 3,000 (150 a day) | 50 test SMS once, after card verification | None (hard stop) | None |
| Pay as you go | R0, no subscription | Prepaid wallet | Prepaid wallet | R0.015 / email (R15 per 1,000) | R0.29 / segment |
| Starter | R299 | 50,000 | 300 | R0.012 / email | R0.27 / segment |
| Growth | R999 | 150,000 | 1,000 | R0.010 / email | R0.26 / segment |
| Scale | R2,999 | 500,000 | 4,000 | R0.008 / email | R0.25 / segment |
| Enterprise | From R6,000 | Custom | Custom | Negotiated | Negotiated |

The Free plan's 50 SMS are a once-off after card verification; when they are used, further SMS need a wallet top-up or a paid plan. Annual billing gives two months free. Transactional and marketing SMS cost the same per segment. Included SMS apply to South African numbers; other countries are charged from your wallet at that country's rate.

On every plan, an organisation without a verified domain can send 100 live emails in total from `onboarding@sendbaze.com` to its own addresses; see [send before your domain is verified](https://docs.sendbaze.com/get-started/test-without-a-domain.md).

Message bodies are redacted after 30 days on every plan. The [pricing page](https://www.sendbaze.com/pricing) has add-ons and SMS packs.

## Pay as you go and the wallet

* Minimum top-up R100 by card or EFT. Top-ups of R1,000 or more earn 5% bonus rand, R5,000 or more 10%.
* A balance is valid for 12 months from your last top-up. SMS packs are valid for 12 months from purchase.
* Optional auto top-up refills the wallet when it falls below a threshold you set.
* On a plan, the same wallet pays overage before your saved card is charged.

## When an allowance is used up

Sends are covered in this order: included plan allowance, then wallet balance, then postpaid overage at your plan's rate (plans with a saved card, within your spend cap). Otherwise the send is rejected before anything is queued, so nothing is lost silently:

| Error | When |
| - | - |
| `402 allowance_exhausted` | The allowance is used up and nothing else covers the send |
| `402 insufficient_credits` | Nothing is included (pay as you go, SMS on Free) and the wallet is empty |
| `402 spend_cap_reached` | Your spend cap would be exceeded |
| `402 payment_required` | Usage beyond the allowance stayed unpaid for 24 hours after the saved card was declined |
| `429 daily_cap_reached` | The Free plan's 150 emails a day |
| `403 plan_limit` | A plan limit such as a 6th domain on Starter; the body names the limit and links to upgrade |

You get an email and a dashboard banner at 50%, 80% and 100% of any allowance, and the customer webhook events `usage.threshold`, `credits.low`, `billing.payment_failed` and `plan.limit_reached`. Test keys never count against an allowance or the wallet.

## Limits that apply to every plan

| Limit | Value |
| - | - |
| Requests | 100 per second per organisation |
| Warm-up | New organisations: 500 live emails on day one, doubling daily while bounces stay under 2%, no cap from day 8 |
| Recipients per email | 50 each in `to`, `cc` and `bcc` |
| Batch size | 1,000 messages |
| HTML or text body | 2 MB |
| Attachments | 10 files, 3 MB decoded in total |
| Tags | 10 of 64 characters |
| Templates | 200 per organisation |
| Idempotency key retention | 24 hours |
| Message bodies in logs | 30 days, then redacted |
| Attachment storage | 30 days |

## Roles

Team members have one of five roles. Owners can do everything; admins everything except deleting the organisation; developers send, read logs and manage domains, keys and webhooks; analysts read logs and suppressions; billing sees and manages billing only.
